The Nurse at the Hospice

Nursing as a Career

I would also put something in about why you would be a good nursing student and not why you want to be a nurse. They are going to admit you to a program based on your chances of making it through and passing NCLEX. So what qualities do you have that will ensure your success? But then again, this all sort of depends on what your prompt for the essay is. Jan 5, '07 by trepinCT Joined: It depends on what the school is looking for.

I would start out with a short Bio. Then I would write about why I want to become a nurse, then I would kiss their butts a little and mention why I have "chosen" their school to persue my goal.

That can simply be done by looking up the schools mission statement philosophy and work it into your essay in your own words. Can finish with" I dont want to just be a nurse , I want to be a graduate of "school name" school of nursing " Yours is a good essay, but I might rearrange your essay to put your Bio first and edit the first 2 paragraphs into the 1 paragraph and make that the middle..

I agree that you need to tell them why you will be a good candidate for their program.. Its good, but It gives the appearance of a speech. Who you are, why you want to be a nurse , why you chose thier school and why you are a good candidate for their program.

I think trepinCT had some great feedback on your essay. I sent mine in a few months ago, but it was composed in practically the same order as trepinCT mentions. Everyday I would see them on the streets begging others for money just so they could treat their ailing relatives.

It made me more aware of the situation and now that I am more mature, I know that I could do my part to help the situation. I would have chosen to become a doctor, yet I believe that being one would make me feel numb about the patients feelings and be more concerned with treating their diseases. I chose nursing because this allows me to interact more with people. Nursing is a very powerful profession, it allows people to influence and touch lives. I am very willing to achieve this big responsibility.

I am eager to be there for the patients through illness, injury pain, loss, grieving, birth, growth, aging and health. I am very eager to care for someone and experience that great feeling.

I felt that I was helpless for some time, and I believe that now is the time to be there for others and help them through their challenging times. I am open and honest to communication, and these are also important traits that a nurse needs. Personally, having the opportunity to impact someone everyday is very powerful. Nursing is one of the few careers that does not only help others but also helps yourself.

It is a profession that is exciting, ever changing, diverse, and allows opportunity for learning something new everyday. I chose the College of Health Professions of Temple University because I believe that this would significantly educate and prepare me for my future in nursing. The College of Health Professions also stands out as a national leader in the education of health professionals.

I am very pleased with my experience as a Temple undergraduate and I believe that the College of Health Professions would be consistent with that or be even better. Being a nurse is tough, but in the end of the day, I will say that this is that path that I chose and I am proud of it, then I will remember that feeling of helping a complete stranger and at that moment, I will feel rewarded.

The essay is due on Feb 15, but I want to submit it as soon as possible since I'm starting my second semster next week. I don't want to worry about this plus school. However, that was not my decision to make. The perception that society has of nurses has been deteriorating over the years, primarily because they are blamed for offering poor care to patients. This is not all nurses though, there are wonderful nurses out there and I intend to be among them in the future.

At elementary school, almost every student typically has a dream of what profession they hope to take up when they become adults:.

I should know since I hope to be a nurse which is quite different from what I wanted to do. Why I want to be a nurse essay will reveal what inspired the change of heart. The field of medicine has its ups and downs, considering how expensive the cost of treatment has become and the different new technologies used to improve patient care and treatment. Why I want to be a nurse essay sample will highlight the following:. There are individuals who will come into your life unexpectedly as strangers and totally transform your perception regarding certain aspects of life.

I never wanted to be a nurse, correctly put, I never thought I would be a nurse until I met one of the most wonderful people that I have ever come across in my life. This is a story of how I met a nurse who inspired and motivated me.

I was visiting my grandmother as I had always done every week. However, as it turned out, that day would be different. Normally, I would meet the nurse on duty, taking care of my grandmother, for some few brief minutes in the lobby, but on that day, I did not.

She was kind and sweet in every sense of the word. She was just as caring for the other patients that she attended to. I was more than impressed. It is not easy to make a terminally or chronically ill person have a smile on their face with so much ease as she did.

Of course, I had to inquire more from my Nana regarding her. Knowing Nana, that statement was worth investigating further. Long story short, the nurse was touching the lives of patients in every way that she could. Her kindness and care made the patients filled with hope rather than despair. I knew that I had to have a chat with her and when I did, it was life-changing. She was an inspiration and made me want to be a nurse. People get into different careers for a variety of reasons.

Personally, after having the talk with the nurse, I decided to do some research about the profession. By the time I was done, I knew that nursing was definitely what I wanted to do. There are two factors that play a significant role in making a decision on the career path we take:.

Considering nursing is more of a hands-on kind of job, there are personal attributes that one must hold to be successful and good at it. My research led me to match the traits with some of my skills and I knew that it is what I want to do.

The listed are traits that every nurse needs to be in a position to take good care of patients. Luckily, I possess the traits and I saw it as a sign that nursing was really what I was meant to go into. However, the attributes are applicable to a number of professions. What counts is the personal choices that we make. Why I want to be a nurse essay expresses why anyone can be a nurse but it is the choices that we make that really dictate what we eventually end up doing.
